Our team of sales personnel and service technicians are 100% dedicated to you, the customer, and are always here and happy to help.

Dick Thayer:  Since founding Thayer's Marine in the mid 60's, Dick has worked hard to expand the business to what it has become today.  Recently, Dick has begun taking a backseat to the action and spending more time at home.  We all miss him here at the shop, but we also agree that he needs a break after working so hard for so long!
Mary Thayer:  For years, Mary has been sitting by Dick's side at the helm of the Thayer's fleet and has been the one to keep the ship afloat through the good and bad.  She holds the family together, and now - more than ever - she reminds us how important family is.
Rich Thayer:  Rich is the service and sales manager here at Thayer's.  He oversees the service department to be sure that your boat is in good hands while it is in the shop.  A marine tech for over 30 years, Rich is our local expert on all things in need of repair.
Dolores Thayer:  Dolores, Rich's wife, is our bookeeper.  She is in charge of the business financials and accounting, along with her full time job as the Facilities Supervisor of the Norwich Public Schools.
Richie Thayer:  After graduating from the University of Hartford, Richie's mission was to build Thayer's Marine into a boat selling and customer service powerhouse.  Four years later, many would say that he has accomplished his goal, but he is still striving for excellence.  Richie is in charge of the parts department, boat financing, and the general activities within the store.  He will always make sure that your experience at Thayer's Marine is a good one.
Rachel ThayerRachel Thayer:  Rachel just graduated from the University of Hartford Barney School of Business and is now working full time in the store.  She can help you with anything you need from parts to service questions and adds a feminine touch to business (I also maintain the website).
Allison Bowers:  Allison is Rich's fiance and currently works in Hartford as a District Manager for a major retail company.  Every weekend Allison is here to help out in the store and keep us company.  We all look forward to their June 2010 wedding!
Clif McKenney:  Clif (with one "f") has been with us at Thayer's for over 12 years and has proved his dedication to our family.  Around here, he is known as the tackle specialist and will give advice and a helping hand on everything fishing.
Elwin Sherman:  Elwin is our lead technician and been with us for about 6 years.  He is a Certified BRP Master Technician and also a Certified SeaDoo Technician.  Elwin has years of experience in many different technical fields and continues to prove his skills as a trouble shooter and problem solver.  Elwin is a vital part of the Thayer's Team.
Carlton Ward:  As our Marina Manager, Carlton is in charge of making sure our grounds are organized and presentable and has been doing a great job for 7 years.  He works closely with both the Sales and Service teams to make sure that everything runs smoothly.  Without this vital part of our team, the entire business would crumble.
Chuck Gates:  Chuck is a retired Navy Chief with over 30 years in our armed services.  Chuck now works as a boat rigger and detailer.  Chuck is one of the most dedicated employees Thayer's Marine has ever seen and for the last 13 years he has always been the first one to arrive and the last one to leave, never complaining about the jobs he is asked to do.
Don Holloway: Don, our salesman, served 28 years on the Groton, CT police force and has much experience in the marine industry.  Come see him for prices and questions on our boats!
William Gwiazdowski:  William is our youngest team member and works in the service department repairing engines and SeaDoos.  William started with us two years ago and with Elwin's help, has become a fine young tech!  William's  love of small (Evinrude and Johnson) engines brought him to Thayer's. He is an avid collector, owning more than 10 antique outboards.
Zack Tarner:  Zack is Rachel's boyfriend and has found a second home at Thayer's Marine.  On breaks from school, he comes down to help out in the store and in the service department.  You might see him doing odd jobs all over the lot. His love for fishing and boating has drawn him to the business and his popularity around here has kept him around!
